Show Water-Sewer Planning Approved by County Grand County Commissioners Commission-ers Monday adopted a resolution resolu-tion authorizing a comprehensive compre-hensive sewer and water planning plan-ning study, provided that funds' can be made available by a federal grant. The study stu-dy will take into" account those areas of the county which are not currently served serv-ed by City sewer lines. Appointed to the planning commission which will take care of the planning functions were Ralph J. Miller, Sr., Commissioner; John Keqgh, 3 years; Ray Branscom, 3 years; Max Irish, 2 years; Clair Tangren, 2 years; Howard How-ard Lance, 1 year; N. S. Christensen 1 year; and Robert Rob-ert Kyle, 1 year. In other business, the Commission Com-mission agreed to appoint Delbert Oliver to the Board of Economic Development to replace Kenneth Beach, who resigned. John Keogh and J. V. West-wood West-wood reported to the Commission Com-mission the results of their efforts in draining the sloughs. They indicated that while the problem of water level has been adjusted, when the river rises, the area will once again be flooded. Plans on how to correct this are now being worked out. Commission Com-mission Chairman Mars Pope suggested that the County Agent Ag-ent be contacted to see f someone from Utah State University with a knowledge of mosquito control is able to come to Moab to make a study of the mosquito problem prob-lem here. Gale Larson of Valley Engineering En-gineering of Logan met with the Commission to ask to be considered when any engineering engine-ering work is needed on the collector roads or water studies. stu-dies. Bowman and Mr. Jack Groneman of Gron-eman Gron-eman Construction Company met with the Commission t discuss the need for enlarge ment of the Sheriff's office It was indicated that at this time there is not enough room in the office for fjies and other equipment. The Commission stated that bids for this type of project would have to be let before any es. timate could be obtained. Ka further action was taken. Sam Taylor and Don Hoi! man discussed the hearing in Moab on March 28 on the proposed roadless areas with in the National Forests. Thev asked the Commission u send letters to George McLaughlin, Mc-Laughlin, Forest Supervisor indicating that representatives' of the Economic Develop, nc- Committee would be at the hearing to present testimony testi-mony and asked that th" Commission request some of the Loop Road b paved. County Attorney Harry Snow was authorized a now typewriter for his office and Grand County Clerk Barbara Dominick was asked to order the machine. It was agreed that Mr. Snow would re-im. burse the County in full for the typewriter. |
