Show Revamp of government Matheson aim Governor Scott M. Matheson Mathe-son has issued an Executive Order that creates a citizen's panel which will routinely inspect and recommend methods meth-ods to eliminate duplication, consolidate agencies and reduce re-duce the expenditure of funds to the lowest possible level. The Order will permit the Governor to carry out the REVAMP (reorganization, evaluation and modernization plan) philosophy by using a seven member citizens panel who respresent a diverse public pub-lic and private background in areas oriented toward efficiency, effici-ency, programming and bud-. bud-. geting. Helen Goddard, Associate State Planning Coordinator, has been named Staff Director Direc-tor for REVAMP. The panel will be augmented by staff assigned from the Planning Coordinator's Office, Department Depart-ment of Transportation, Department De-partment of Social Services and other agencies. Governor Matheson has authored au-thored an outside consultant to advise the panel on reorganization reor-ganization and efficiency problems. The consultant will work w ith the panel and staff to gather and organize the information and then present recommendations to the Governor Gov-ernor in January of 1978. The suggestion will be transmitted to the Legislative Committees for necessary ac-- ac-- tion prior to the 1979 General Session. Administrative changes in Executive Department structure struc-ture which do not require legislation, will be handled on a continuous basis. |
