Show Letters to the editor. . . Dear Sam, This is to warn all you cat lovers out there. Do put a collar and I.D. tag on your pet cat or you may never see him s again. One of our friendly neighbors caught our cat in a baited trap, then called the dog catcher. The only reason our cat was returned, and not disposed of, was because of the I.D. tag. Not only do we love our cat, but we have spent a considerable amount of money on it, having him neutered and shots for distemper, dis-temper, rabies, etc. Admittedly the cat should not have been in the neighbors neigh-bors yard, but he didn't know this. I don't know just what happened but his poor little nose was skinned and bleeding bleed-ing w hen we got him back. It seems to me, anyone who sets a baited trap in their yard is enticing the animals into their yard. We all know animals have an acute sense of smell. I realize there are all too many stray cats and dogs. This is because irresponsible people let their pets breed more and more unwanted offspring. Also, a lot of animals ani-mals are just dumped, which is really cruel. If you really love your pets, get them neutered. Unwanted cats are not dis-. posed of in a humane way. They are taken to the dump and shot. Surely the city could afford a more humane way of doing things. Moab is sorely in need of an animal shelter where lost, strayed or abandoned pets, could be held until then-owners then-owners claim them or a home found for them. As a last resort, they should be disposed dispos-ed of in a humane way. We all must speak out for the animals ani-mals as they can't speak for themselves. I want to add a special thanks to Barbara Ozment, president of the Humane Society, So-ciety, for all she has done, and is doing for defenseless animals ani-mals of all kinds. Sincerely, Linnea Sackerson To The Editor: Well, I don't mind saying so my wife was right again! She said, "Bluff? Why Bluff? They don't have anything down there." But I insisted, because I had read in the papers that Bluff was having Indian Day. Well, I'm not blaming the I Indians for the fiasco. (Yes, j we went on an expensive, I boring, two-day trip to Bluff.) j The Indians were simply do- ing their thing the way they I felt like doing it. I have no I quarrel with them. But some I smart business people in town I saw a way of exploiting a small, informal event into a j big blast to attract a lot of I customers to heal an aching deficit. I OK, I'm not asking for my I money back, but my wife and I are sure going to tell the world to stay away from Bluff except to pass through on the way to the Reservation or somewhere else. J.C.S.
