Mr. and Mrs. Bernes Jackson and family were in the Wayne area last week attending a Jackson reunion at Fish Lake and visiting old friends here. Bernes was the former bishop here and is presently pre-sently employed in Salt Lake. Nona Bee works at St. Marks Hospital. Son, Jim, is serving a mission mis-sion in Norway. Andy and Thresa Anderson, And-erson, former residents, are the parents of a 5 lb. 9 oz. baby girl born July 5th in Grand Junction. Junc-tion. The first baby for the Andersons has been named Mindy Lee. Grandparents are the Larry Bradley's, former form-er business folks here, now residents of Colo. The 4-H organizations in the community have begun under the guidance of Carol Williams, Loa, Keith Chapman, Loa. Those teaching individual individu-al groups here are Rae Lene Ekker, 1st year cooking; Rita Ekker and Sherry Ekker, 1st year sewing, Dennis and Ann Leird. horsemanship; Dennis Ekker, livestock; Janice Johnson, 2ndyear cooking. Mrs. Margaret Bullard and sons took Mrs. Connie Con-nie Rasmussen and daughter, Stephine, to Salt Lake Wednesday where they'll visit their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fkker Fk-ker and three children are vacationing here from their home in Pay-son. Pay-son. Prior to leaving Payson they received a surprise visit from Dixie's father, Roscoe Allen, and his wife, who make their home in Idaho. Mr. Tom Hopkins, Cainsville, is in the Veterans Vet-erans Hospital in Grand Junction. Mrs. Katherine Black accompanied him there Thursday. Mrs. Reba Bennet.and grandson, Jeff Crocker, from Denver are visiting her mother, Mrs. Edna Ekker Robison for a w eek . and then Mrs. Robison will accompany her home for a visit in Colorado. Mrs. Pearl Baker brought Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Higgenbotham, their daughter, Mrs. Susan Su-san Schoof and grandson, Hans, to Hanksville for the July 24th celebration. Mrs. Higgenbotham is the granddaughter of the late Joe Bush, a U.S. Deputy Marshall that rode this area in search of Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch. They visited with Mrs. Edna Ekker Robison and the Jesse Ekkers and enjoyed the days activities. They make their homes in Salt Lake. Steve Brock, Hi'te Marina, Ma-rina, was surprised by a visit from his parents from Los Angeles during the holiday weekend. Steve joined them here and participated in the afternoon baseball game. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kirby and family from Sharon. Conn, arrived in Moab Friday and toured the scenic areas before visiting in Green River with Mrs. Pearl Baker and then on to Hanksville Hanks-ville to vacation with the Jess Ekkers. The Kirby Kir-by 's make Utah their vacation va-cation destination every summer and all are Wild Bunch fans and Edward, who's the principal of the Housatonic Valley Regional Re-gional High School, has a book at the publishers about this area of the State. They hope to visit Mrs. Lula Parker Beten-son, Beten-son, Butch Cassidy's sister and a dear friend in Circleville, and with Marvel Lay Murdock, Elzy Lay's daughter, in Heber City while here. The Kirby's have five children but their oldest daughter, Anne, is touring tour-ing Europe and wasn't able to join them this year. Mrs. Elora Ekker joined join-ed Mrs. Everett (Karla) Ekker and children from Blanding for a trip to Salt Lake where they celebrated Mrs. Morris (Phyllis) Blackburns birthday with the Don Ekkers. Utah Mining and Refining Re-fining Co. (formerly P & P Associates of Provo) have ceased their gold placer operations in the Henry Mountains. Operations Oper-ations still continue in the area by Sandy San-" San-" stead, Dennis Ekker, Ulvess Small and Darvs Ekker. The Hanksville Single Girls Softball team still remain undefeated following fol-lowing their recent game with Fremont-Lyman the 26th. The Fremont-Lyman team included Dana Nielson, Corinne Taylor, Jo Lynn Taylor, Fran-cine Fran-cine Ellett, Colleen Allen, Al-len, Tammy Mattingly, Tammy Blackburn, Coral Cor-al Sawyer, Debbie Old-royd, Old-royd, and Alice Chap -pell. They were accompanied accom-panied to Hanksville by Mrs. Lewis Blackburn and Mrs. La Donna Chap-pell. Chap-pell. The final game before be-fore the tournament will be with Teasdale and Torrey. The tournament will be held in Lyman Aug. 9th and 10th, and 16th and 17th to determine deter-mine the county winners. Mrs. Marjorie Chaney is vacationing at Colorado Colo-rado Springs this week from her work at the Poor Boy. Mrs. Marilyn Sellers is taking her place during this time. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Tuft and children have been visiting her parents, par-ents, the Ford Webers from their home in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Law-rence Kay and three sons visited last week with his sister and family, the Ernie Shirely's, from their home in Vernal. Mr. Kay also spoke in church Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Howiand, Green River, spent the 24th with her sister and husband, Steve and Carolyn Hatch. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Dale Johnson and family spent the holiday here with his parents,- the Glen P. Johnsons, from their Green River home.
