Show 53 Increase for Year Logged at Dead Horse During the month of October, Oc-tober, 4,835 people had visited visit-ed Dead Horse Point State Park, it was announced this week by Mike Barker, Superintendent. Sup-erintendent. 501 of these people peo-ple stayed over night. As of October 31, 55,603 people had visited the park in 1971. For the same period of time last year the park had 36,296 visitors. visi-tors. This represents a 53 per cent increase to date over ov-er 1970. Path work near complete at the Point will now allow people to utilize points of interest in-terest that have been inaccessible. inac-cessible. Camping will be permitted throughout the winter months, mon-ths, with firewood available from the rangers. Water will be available through the end of November at the Visitor center for campers. The snow-covered country of Canyonlands is a picturesque pictur-esque sight from Dead Horse Point, providing a treat for photographers and sightseers. |
