Show Christmas Stamps Now Available in Moab Postmaster E. R. Carter announced today that Christmas Christ-mas stamps will go on sale on November 11. This year's special issue of Christmas stamps will include a Naivity Scene with some .2 billion to be printed and a scene of a partridge in a pear tree with a printing of 800 million. Carter Car-ter stated that there will be an additional printing if th public demand outlasts the supply. Cost of printing the 2 billion bil-lion stamps will be $160 million. mil-lion. They will be 1 by V2 inches and will be printed in multicolors in keeping with the holiday season. Fifty of the stamps will be printed to a sheet. Carter also urged residents to remember the mailing dates for packages and cards to insure thst they will ba received by Chrstmas. He said that the U.S. Postal Service Ser-vice expects to handle 10 billion bil-lion pieces of mail during the holiday season with 2 billion of those pieces sent in the western states. Deadlines for holiday mail are December 1 for packages to be sent long distances, December 10 for local packages and distant cards,. Dec. 15 for local cards. Mail early, Carter said, and use the zip code. |
