Show Job Potential To be Probed By Survey What sources are available avail-able for new jobs from public pub-lic and private sources? Can we identify and outline assistance as-sistance far new jobs in the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah? The Four Corners Regional Region-al Commission expects to find the answers to these and other questions about jobs in the four states as a result of a study now underway. under-way. Announcement of the Strategy for Early Job Development De-velopment was made this week by Governor Calvin L. Rampton and L. Ralph Me-ch'am, Me-ch'am, Federal Cochairman of the Commission'. Contract for the study has been awarded to the Economic Econ-omic Development Operations Opera-tions Division of Thiokol Chemical Corporation, headquartered head-quartered in Ogden, Utah. Robert L. Marquardt, Group Vice President of Thiokol, state's that the six-month six-month study will be done in two distinct phases. Phase One will be the preparation pre-paration of base data. While the Thiokol team will research re-search the federal resources for early job potentials, representatives rep-resentatives of four major state universities will be identifying available . and proposed assistance in their respective states. Phase Two will feature two - day job development meetings in each of the four states. One day will be with public sector leaders and the other with major industrialists. industrial-ists. Object of the meetings is to reach the public and private decision makers who can provide jobs winfihiw the Region. In addition to the. meetings, meet-ings, researchers wii utilize a selective mailing andor personal contact . to . interview inter-view industries or agencies located in the Four Corners Region. Purpose of this action ac-tion is to provide synchronized synchro-nized integration of early job development into the comprehensive plan being developed by the Commission. Commis-sion. Contract will be under the direction of Bernie R. Diamond, Dia-mond, Director of Program Development for Thiokol. University personnel assigned as-signed to the project include: in-clude: Dr. David Shirley, University of Arizona; Dr. Bernard Udis of the University Univer-sity of Colorado; Dr. Lee B. Zink of the University of New Mexico and R. Thayne ' Robson - of the University of Utah.
