Show Enrollment for Medicare Nov In Progress A new enrollment period for people age 65 and older who wish to have insurance to help pay their doctor bills under the Medicare program is currently in process, John Wainwright, manager of the Grand Junction Social Security Secur-ity Office reports. The general enrollment period which began January 1, 1969 and ends March 31, 1969, is the last opportunity many older people will have to take this insurance. For those who do sign up, coverage cov-erage will begin July 1, 1969. Coverage of hospital bills is not affected by this deadline. Of the 19 million persons in the country who have hospital hos-pital insurance under Medicare, Medi-care, there are about 5 per cent who do not have the added protection of the medical me-dical insurance. Some of these are ineligible or have other insurance, but some of our older people have failed fail-ed to enroll because of a misunderstanding of the program, pro-gram, he said. It is these people that the local office hopes to reach. Those who are already paying the monthly premium of approximately $4.00 need not re-enroll. For further information, contact Mr. Herman Frame, social security representative, representa-tive, who will be in Moab at the Employment Office on Feb. 11, 1969 between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m. Mr. N. S. (Butch) Chris-tensen Chris-tensen underwent major surgery sur-gery last week in St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junctfon .and is reported to be doing well, according to word received re-ceived in Moab by relatives and friends. |
