Eastern Star Installation Held Here Nov. 21st Installation of officers of Valiant Chapter No. 21, Order of the Eastern Star, was held Sunday, Nov. 21. The retiring Worthy Matron, Ma-tron, Jean Tyler, was presented present-ed with gifts from the officers and the chapter. She was also presented with her Past Matron's jewel. A program was presented in her honor by members of the Chapter. Retiring Worthy Patron, Robert Rob-ert Rose, was presented a gift and his Past Patron's pin. Included in the introductions introduc-tions were: Fran Townsend, Grand Organist, and Grand Representatives: Adrien Taylor Tay-lor representing Illinois; and Margaret Gaskill representing Nevada along with Lucille Isaman, representing New Hampshire. The elected officers installed instal-led were: Palma Jacobs, Worthy Matron; Harry Austin, Worthy Patron; Margaret Bennett, Ben-nett, Associate Matron; Louis Smith, Associate Patron; Ad-rienne Ad-rienne Smith, Secretary; Violet Wiler, Treasurer; Maxine Alexander, Al-exander, Conductress; Sylvia Bittle, Associate Conductress. Appointed officers installed were: Sue Batchelder, Chaplain; Chap-lain; Jean Tyler, P.M., Marshal; Mar-shal; Fran Townsend, P.M., Organist; Margaret Shaffer, Adah; Jean Letellier, Ruth; Lillian Babbitt, Esther; Marilyn Mari-lyn Rose, Martha; Louise Hetzel, Electa; Louise Claus, . Warder; Shirley Cline, Sentin-" Sentin-" el. Also assisting will be: Eula Griffin, P.M., Soloist; Robert Rose, P.P., Official Prompter; Jerry Kitchens, Bible Bearer. It was a pleasure for the Worthy Matron-elect to have as her Installing Officer and Installing marshal her sister-in-law and brother. Mrs. Milton Johnson is a Past Matron of Hebron Chapter No. 31 and Mr. Milton Johnson is a Past Patron of Hebron Chapter No. 31 of Hebron, Nebraska. Installing Chaplain was Hil-dur Hil-dur Unger and Installing Organist was Betty Jo Hayes. Rev. Emil Balla gave the Invocation. An engraved gavel was presented to the new Worthy Matron as a gift by Mr. and Mrs. Milton Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson, her brothers and sisters-in-law. A duet by Eula Griffin, P.M. and Robert Rose, P.P. to the tune of "Memories" entertained enter-tained those present. The singers composed their own lyrics to fit the occasion. A program symbolizing the Theme for the year, "Prayer is the Light of the World," was presented by the new officers. , Worthy Matron, Palma Jacobs, Jac-obs, received a frosted glass candle and briefcase from Valiant Chapter and her Worthy Matron's pin. Worthy Patron, Harry Austin, Aus-tin, received a book as a chapter gift, "Stories to Make You Feel Better," and the Worthy Patron's pin. Out of town guests of the new Worthy Matron included: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Smith, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Agnes George, Lodi, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Johnson, Hebron, Nebraska; and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pettefer, Pueblo, Colorado. Co-lorado. A congratulatory telegram was received by the Worthy Matron from her family in Omaha, Nebraska. Refreshments, prepared by , the Past Matron's Club, were enjoyed b the many relatives and friends of the officers of Valiant Chapter attending the Installation. |
