BdDDyOGDg IPgiraiji dDfllfed Tho Huntington Canyon plant will bo one of the new facilities provided by the largest expansion program in Utah Power & Light Co. history. his-tory. The utility's ambitious construction program will require re-quire the expenditure of $255 million in the five years ending in 1974 and will include in-clude the completion of almost al-most three-quarters of a million kilowatts in new generating capacity. Such expansion calls for an investment at an average of $4.2 million each month over the next 60 months, an expenditure comparable to establishment each month of a plant for a fairly large-sized large-sized industry. Major projects in the program pro-gram include: A 430,000 kilowatt, $85 million first unit of the Huntington Canyon steam electric complex, scheduled for completion in 1974; Completion next year of a 330,000 kilowatt third generating gen-erating unit at Naughton steam electric plant near Kemmerer, Wyo., which will bring total plant capacity up to 710,000 kilowatts; Construction of a 368-mile $26.5 million extra high volt- age line from Salt Lake City to the Four Corners area in New Mexico. This line will deliver power from the new Huntington Canyon plant to UP&L load centers, and also provide additional interconnections inter-connections with adjacent electric systems for increased reliability and economy. . v-fcs-r .ir:it; V.lf VVf i,"- v'" ;; vr-&&'4x-t I i . - -: V ' f-- ps"-v.t . . o .
