Show Local Land Classification Made by Bureau The Bureau of Land Management Man-agement has classified 1,(111, acres of public land in Grand County and the northern north-ern portion of San Juan Co. Utah, for retention in Federal Fed-eral ownership. As a result, these lands will receive intensified in-tensified management under multiple-use principles. Robert I). Nielson, BLM Stale Director for Utah, explained ex-plained thai classification was made under directio i from Congress, which in l!)fi4 enacted the Classification Classifica-tion and Multiple Use Act. BLM action was taken after a public hearing on May 7, in Moab, with local citizens and public land users. Afler careful consideration of all comments in light o the law and regulations, the proposal to segregate the NWl'iSW!'. of Sec. 19, T. ?.5 S., R. 22 K. from location and entry under the mining . laws was vacated because of mineral values on the subject sub-ject tract. Mr. Nielson said classifi-' tion of public lands under the old public sale and agricultural agri-cultural land laws. However, this action docs not preclude asquisition of public lands for agricultural development and other public uses und;r the Public Land Sale Act of 19fi4, nor does it preclude mineral exploration and development, de-velopment, except on thjj53 areas intended for recreation development.
