Show Dixie Barker New Manager Of KURA Mrs. Dixie L. Barker, popular radio personality and Moab resident for many years, has been appointed ap-pointed Station Manager of Radio KUR1A, according to G. U. Foote, President of Moab Broadcasting and Television Corporation, the owner and licensee of the station. Dixie, has served on the staff of Kura for the past three years in various cap acities. In addition to providing radio service to the community com-munity Kura is beginning a series of television programs pro-grams over Channel 6 in cooperation with Town Television. Shows cuSrer.t ly being seen include: "It's a Woman's World". 2 p.m. Tuesdays: "Strictly for Children", 2 p.m. Thursdays. Thurs-days. Another program to be shown on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. will start Sept. 6th, entitled "Learning at !he Keyboard" with Lily Blewitt as instructor. Mrs. Barker, assisted by staff 'members of KURA and ,Town Television, is responsible respon-sible for the production of .these TV shows also, and (has plans for additional features for Channel 6 as itime and facilities permit. Mr. Foote also announced announc-ed that Radio KURA and Town Television have com bined their facilities to place KURA on the cable FM band at 88.25 megacycles. mega-cycles. Thus the programming program-ming of KURA is presented present-ed in FM high fidelity a-long a-long with KSLFM, KSOP-' FM and local Channel 6 music to cable customers who have FM sets connect ed. Edward E. Drake of Town Television says this is the first instance to his knowledge, in which a local lo-cal radio station has been converter to FM and carried car-ried by the cable companv for the convience and pleasure of their customers. |
