Show Surveyors Move Onto Books To Map Road Two Utah State Highway High-way surveyors moved to the northwest section cf Diamond Ridge in the Willow Wil-low Creek area of the Book Cliff mountains this week to begin the Book Cliff road right of way survey. They wall move via trail bikes, in an effort ef-fort to save Grand county the cost of building dozer trails. According to Les Rogers, Chairman of the Chamber Road Committee, the survey sur-vey should he finished this week in that area, and move to the Sego-East Sego-East Willow area. The surveyors will operate out of Thompson for the latter lat-ter portion of the work. These surveys will pro-?vide pro-?vide the material necessary neces-sary to negotiate with property pro-perty owners on rights of way, Mr. Rogers said. The Ute Indians are ipresently using the proposed pro-posed Book Cliffs road as a selling point to promota an Economic Development study loan to investigate the feasibility of utilizing natural gas from the reservation res-ervation and from other wells in the area, in a fertilizer fer-tilizer operation. It is believed be-lieved there is an ample supply of amonium nitrate, ni-trate, which could be marketed mar-keted as urea fertilizer. The product would then he hauled over the Book Cliff roads, and stored at Thompson for shipment by rail. Thiokol Chemical (Corp. reportedly would operate and engineer the project, which would ba taxable by Grand county when stored at the railroad rail-road terminal, with the exception of freeport r.-ems r.-ems which are exempt. Mr. Rogers said it was Sloped a resolution from the Ut.es granting right of way over a portion of reservation res-ervation would be in th? hands of Grand county Commissioners by next week. |
