Show Former Resident Of Denmark Guest Speaker Mrs. Olga Swenson, a native of Copenhagen, Denmark, Den-mark, was guest speaker at the Woman's Literary Club meeting in the Desert Inn , dining room Saturday. 'She touched upon politics, poli-tics, business, homt life, schools, religion and World War II in relation to Denmark. Den-mark. She described her native land as about one sixth the size of Utah, with a population of approximately approxi-mately one million. Cotton mills, woolen mills and furniture fur-niture factories are major industries, she noted, adding ad-ding that the bulk of the cotton was imported from the state of Texas in the USA. Dairy farming also plays a major part in the economy of Denmark, Mrs. Swenson said. The visiting speaker is now a resident of Utah. .She came to the United States, and to Salt Lake City, 16 years ago, and about a year and a half later married Mr. Swenson. They resided in Indiana and Michigan prior to returning return-ing to Utah. The next meeting of the Woman's Literary Club is set for March 11. i. |
