Show July 4 Will Be Big Day For Moabites For a safe, sane and fun-filled Fourth of July this year, stay in Moab, the American Legion has announced. Once a major Moab celebration ce-lebration for years, has lapsed since the occasion was marked with an organized or-ganized festival. This year a big one has been planned plan-ned by tne Legion. July 4 will begin with a 7 a.m. breakfast at the Lions Club Riverside park followed by a 10 a.m. parade. pa-rade. There will be swimming swim-ming contests at the Moab ' Swim Center, and foot races ra-ces at City Park, from 11 to 1:30, and residents are encouraged to enjoy family picnics at the park during the interim. A concession stand will also be available at the gark. Afternoon events will ' include a baseball game from 2 to 4 p.m., pony races from 4 to 6, and a pit barbecue at Legion Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. A lavish fireworks display dis-play will be set off on the cliffs overlooking Moab Valley at dark. The celebration cele-bration I will end with a dance at Legion Hall, beginning be-ginning at. 10 p.m. The Fourth of July celebration ce-lebration is the first of many events planned during dur-ing the statewide "Roaring "Roar-ing Twenties" celebration from July 4 to 24. Legion officials said attempts are being made to hold a special spe-cial event in downtown Moab each evening during the 20-day period. |
