M Knight Mrs Knight stated that while some students have withdrawn during the year the total enrollment enrollment enrollment enroll enroll- ment has not dropped appreciably ly Iy and the total enrollment re reo re- re n mains pretty much the same The total enrollment in Grand county as of this week is 1383 children which is approximately the same as that at the beginning beginning begin begin- ning of the year Enrollment in Moab schools by grades is now as follows kindergarten kindergarten kindergarten kinder kinder- garten first grade Second second second se se- cond grade third grade fourth grade fifth grade sixth grade 96 In the county schools there are 30 in Thompson and 11 in Cisco High school enrollment figures show that in the seventh grade there are 95 students 89 In the eighth grade ninth tenth 75 eleventh grade 52 and senior class 47 Enrollments in some grades are nearing the point where present present pre pre- sent facilities are becoming very crowded Mrs Knight stated If growth continues double sessions may again be the only solution she continued Mrs Knight pointed out that the Ute high school enrollment has reached the point where science laboratories and home economics cannot ac ac- the demand at the present present pre pre pre- sent time nor can the ium lum The superintendent started stated that the new shop building now under under un un- un der construction on a lot just east of the present high school building will soon be ready and will afford much better facilities where students in ithe the mechanical arts department can accomplish much better work in a shop that thatIs Is properly lighted and heated and built for a shop program The old shop building will likely lik Ilk ely be used for some recreation and physical education activities when it is vacated and until new high school facilities are made available through a building program program pro pro- gram of some sort |
