Show Pioneer of Moab Area Dies Mo Monday day Mrs Melissa Akers Davis 84 a pioneer resident of the Moab area died at a. a m. m Monday at the home of her daughter Mrs Daisy Allen after a lingering lingering ling hag ering illness She was the widow of the late Byron Davis and had resided in Moab since 1901 She was born June 18 1871 at Oskaloosa Iowa the daughter of James Akers and Amelia Hum- Hum iston She was married to Davis at Colorado Springs on Oct 3 1889 She was a member of the Community Baptist church of Moab and prior to her illness she was quite active in church and social circles of Mush Moab Funeral services were held at 10 a. a m. m Wednesday at the Community Com Corn Baptist church with Rev O. O H. H officiating Burial was in Grand Valley cemetery cem cern under the direction of Turner Furner Turner Tur Fur ner Funeral Home Mrs Davis is survived by three daughters Mrs Clara Taylor of Durango Cob Colo Mrs Daisy Allen of Moab and Mrs Bess Evans of Dayton Ohio one sister Mrs Hattie Clark of Cottage Grove Grave Ore four grandchildren and 10 great For the benefit of those who did not get to send flowers lowers for forthe forthe forthe the funeral two memorials have been established in honor of Mrs Davis one for far cancer and another another another an an- other for the church |
