Show DEMOCRATS WILL NAME THEIR TICKET NEXT MONDAY WHILE republicans WILL PLACE THEIR candidates IN FIELD WEDNESDAY ANNOUNCED candidates the political campaign in grand county which has been slow in getting under way will be officially launched next week when the democrats and republicans hold their nominating conventions the official calls for the two conventions have been issued and appear in this edition of the times independent the democratic party contrary to the usual custom in this county will hold its convention first the date for this gathering being next monday at 10 a m the democratic primaries in the two moab districts will be held saturday evening the convention will consist of 41 delegates birten aured county chairman will call the convention to order the republicans will hold their convention next wednesday sept 28 and the primaries for the two moab districts will be held monday evening the republican convention will consist of 44 delegates on the basis of one delegate for each ten votes or major portion thereof cast for don colton for congressman in 1930 the republican convention will be colled to order by L L taylor county chairman pour county officers will be elected this fall as follows state representative long term commissioner short term commissioner and county attorney the work of the two nominating conventions therefore should ba completed in short order ahil there has been more or less political gossip during the past month relating to candidates there have been few formal announcements it Is quite certain however that both parties will nominate full tickets among those mentioned for nominees on the democratic ticket are W D hammond for representative A M robertson for long term commissioner john A johnston ot cisco and G A harris of elgin for short term commissioner and S thomson and allmer bronson for county attorney republicans who have been mentioned are L L taylor for representative D E baldwin earl dalton and ralph miller for long term commissioner buchanan for short term commissioner and D A johnson loren robertson and areld lance for county attorney the opening gun in the coming political campaign will be tired at moab monday night when united states senator william H king addresses a democratic rally in the goodmen woodmen hall |
