Show LIFE IN MOAB TWENTY YEARS AGO THIS WEEK from the files of the times of jan 20 1911 A denver company was planning to drill a test well for oil in moab the indian creek cattle company this week sold their yearling steers for 26 50 two year olds brought 33 and threes brought 37 miss ella westwood and charles cato were married this week by bishop J P larsen the moab commercial club was rapidly growing and the meeting held this week was the largest attended in the history of the organization the club decided to send a committee of three to salt lake each week to work for the moab bridge appropriation V P martin F B hammond jr and C A robertson were named as the first committee and were to leave for salt lake the following monday miss alta larsen and clarence were married this week at grand junction james luster purchased 25 head of cattle and left with them for westwater where he was establishing a cow outfit the members of the busy women s club and their partners were entertained this week by mrs addie wesson representative J P miller was named on several important committees at the state legislature and reported that the chances for securing a bridge appropriation were good dr J W williams was a business caller at green river H E blake was operating a coal mine in the book mountains near elgin rube and his ma a play was presented by a home dramatic company this week the players being W D hammond miss may dalton mrs elsie hammond W R mcconkle miss adelaide hammond J M alsher rosa beach frank peterson boyd hammond and miss edna bankhead W E wheeler and ed lavendar of telluride were in moab this week buying cattle the green river commercial club was sending a committee to salt lake to lobby for the passing of the moab bridge appropriation in return for the help extended by moab in getting the green river bridge the grand valley irrigation district was established this week at westwater the landowners of the district voting unanimously for its creation |
