Show USE OF LIBRARY INCREASED IN 1930 the grand county public library was used more widely in 1930 than in any year in the history of the institution according to the annual report of mrs edna shafer librarian filed with the state board of education this week the total circulation of books from ane library during the year was with books going to adults and to children during the preceding year the total circulation was of which were adults and children during 1930 the library facilities were unproved by the addition of another room in the county court house which Is used as a magazine room A summary of the report of mrs shafer follows number of volumes added by purchase during year adults children total total number of volumes owned at end of year adults 2761 children 1143 total number of borrowers registered during year adults children total number of borrowers cards in force at end of year adults children total the number of volumes of adult fiction circulated during 1930 to the library was open for circulation days during the year the library was open six days per week during the school term and three days during the remainder of the year the library was open 28 hours per week during the school term and 16 hours per week during the summer vacation the financial report of the librarian shows that the total expenditures during 1930 were 2137 10 of this amount 1009 66 went for salaries and janitor service 85 for purchase of books 90 for subscriptions to periodicals 83 tor repairs and improvements prove ments the remainder going to pay for insurance and other expenses the library started the year 1931 with a balance on hand of 1673 51 |
