| Show following a period of patient suffering extending over the last two or three years mrs mary murphy duncan 56 died sunday morning at the home of her mother mrs mary E murphy death resulted from cancer of the breast mrs duncan had been in a critical condition for months funeral services were held monday afternoon from the L D S chapel and the numerous friends present and the beautiful array of floral offerings attested the esteem in which mrs duncan was held the services were presided over by bishop W D hammond the speakers were W R mcconkie and bishop hammond who spoke in high terms of mrs duncans life and offered words of comfort to per family opening prayer was offered by C L christensen and the benediction by D A johnson the choir sang 1 I need thee every hour shall we meet beyond the river and farewell all earthly honors mary catherine murphy was born january 25 1875 at midway utah the daughter of the late felix G murphy and mary E murphy she came to moab with her parents in 1882 and made her home here continuously until her death she was married to J T duncan about the year 1914 mr duncan preceding her in death by about eight years she had no children she is survived by her mother one sister mrs pearl knight of moab and seven brothers who are felix G murphy moab william J la sal heber salt lake city and thomas amber J victor and otho murphy moab mrs duncan though quiet and reserved was a zealous church worker and took an active part in the affairs of the auxiliary organizations of moab ward she was held in high regard by all who knew her and her death is a blow to her host of friends throughout the community |
