| Show U DENVER HEARINGS FINISHED CASE GOES TO LOS ANGELES following a week of sessions at denver before charles W warren arran n aster naster to fo the united states supreme court the case of the federal government against the state of utah involving ownership of the beds of the colorado green and san juan rivers was transferred to los angeles yesterday the sessions will open at los angeles september 23 and will continue there for about ten days dam further sessions will be held at salt lake city late in october the denver hearings consisted entirely of evidence introduced by the government seeking to prove that the colorado river and its tributary streams are not navigable A large number of witnesses were examined including numerous southern utah citizens who have had experience on the river utah Is endeavoring to prove that the streams are navigable and that by virtue of that fact it can lay claim to the ownership of the beds of the streams lying within its borders the government Is contending that utah Is trying to obtain ownership to the bed of the colorado river in order to 3 obtain title to oil lands adjacent and a beneath the bed arguing that the state had entered no protest to gov emment ownership before oil was discovered along the colorado river near moab |
