| Show commissioners appropriate TO CONSTRUCT FLOY SOLITUDE SECTION comprising MILES A cooperative agreement submitted by the united states bureau of public roads for the construction of the first unit of the east and west highway through grand county was accepted by the board of county commissioners ners monday the agreement covers the section of the road extending from floy station to solitude switch a distance of 57 miles including three bridges the government will defray 74 per cent of the cost while the remaining 26 per cent will be between the state and county grand countes coun tys share or 13 per cent will cost the state has agreed to advance this money afta wait until the county has the fund available to repay the loan the note will be without interest and the county has asked that it have at least two ears it necessary to repay the loan it 13 probable that the state will immediately advertise for bids for the construction of the project the total cost of which will be another project in the vicinity of cisco 13 also on the construction program for this year and may be undertaken by the county road engineer K J nielsen is now the survey of the unit the east and west road through grarld will be built as fast as funds are available if the plans of th state road commission are followed out by completing one or more small units a year the entire highway can be constructed ted within tha space of about five years the firs cost or 13 per cent will be the wy expense grand county will be required to bear as all of the maintenance costs on state and federal aid doai are now paid by the state gasoline tai funds present at monday meeting of the commissioners were members mel stew art and R T edwards clerk H W bilsley and attorney C S thomson Chair max B taylor waa unable to attend on account of illness the bonds of C L chistensen austice of the pece aha charles cato george black and joseph H johnn as deputy sheriffs were approved A license bond submitted by P F dyer of cico was also approved and C C taylor of thomp sons was planted a pool hell license the clerk was instructed to write the general land office asking for the reservation of forty acres of land sur courthouse station on the moab thompsons highway the county recently purchased the improvements prove ments at courthouse from john jackson and it is now desired to acquire title to tha land the place will be used for a road maintenance station s demands for tate ta te on transient stock from san juan emery and carbon counties were approved and ordered paid |
