Show MIDWEST BRINGS IN SECOND WELL ON HOGBACK DOME the denver post eay says the mid et eat refining company has just drought in its second well on the hogback structure in northwestern new mexico at about the same depth and with the same production as the original well bellr in which the pay sand was found at feet with an initial output of between and barrels the new well is located about an eighth of a mile from the pioneer well it is 14 the intention of the company to continue drilling to the deeper sand which is expected at lit about 1300 1300 feet in tha pioneer well water succeeded the oil when the well was deepened and it is the belief that the same conditions will be found in irr the new well it is the purpose to cement the water off air and a n d save the oil from the first sand and then con dinue to the deeper structure when water was vas first encountered in the discovery well an effort was made to cement it off but several accidents occurred to prevent this re suit sult and the hole was lost it is be lieveld that knowing the formations as they now do the drillers will wui be able to shut off the water with little difficulty there is every reason reaton to believe that the oil found in the first sand has migrated from a lower horizon which will be tested now for the first time who in this area |
