J David Larson secretary of the I Salt Lake Commercial club Archie Stewart of the Citizens' Citizens Coal I company of Bingham Dr F. F E. E Francis VV W. Quinn of the Jordan school board Ralph Welch Velch of the Intermountain Film company company company com com- pany of Salt Lake City Art Willard Villard superintendent of the Bingham schools and Postmaster A. A C C. Countryman of Bingham President Kelly opened the meeting with a review of the history of the Bingham Commercial club dub pointing out the advantages advantages advantages of Bingham along commercial industrial and mining lines Mr Kellys Kelly's motto was to boost always ays for fora a greater city URGES COMMERCIAL CLUB SUPPORT The coal situation was threshed out by Archie Stewart He pointed out in what condition the camp had been placed in the last four months owing to the coal shortage But he said he looked forward to improvement in the coming year owing to the extension of railways into the coal fields of Utah He asked the citizens to rally to the support of the Commercial club dub saying it was through the operation co-operation of all the people with the Commercial dub club that the club will accomplish the purpose for which it is organized Theodore Schweitzer a mining expert of the Utah Copper company company com com- pany was called upon by the tile president to give actual figures relating relating relating ing to the production of the camp He said that on account of the low grade of ore that it was only possible to obtain two twenty pounds of copper to the ton The proposition was looked upon with suspicion and capital fought shy of the investment PRODUCES A MONTH Now the mines produce thousands of tons of ore daily and there are millions of dollars worth of ore bodies in sight Six million million million mil mil- lion dollars a month is taken out ot of mammoth camp The fhe pay roll is a month and with other mining operations brings the pay roll up imp to half a million dollars This mining camp lie he said is the largest mining camp in inthe inthe inthe the world with one exception Postmaster Countryman brought up the question of getting better schools and amid paying teachers better salaries Mayor reviewed the history of the town and urged all aU residents to unite for a greater Bingham s I Secretary Lars Larson n of the Salt Lake Commercial club extended extend d the courtesies of the Salt Lake club to the Bingham club and promised the operation co-operation of the HIe Salt Lake organization Conditions in the Bingham schools were outlined by Superintendent Superintendent Superintendent Willard There Thereas was as a debate on the question of permitting foreigners to carry firearms While some said they should have the tile privilege of shooting and fishing others held that the carrying of weapons by aliens was a menace and amid encouraged ed crime |
