U were reinstated last night at a meeting of the the committee The Theother Theother Theother other three were Ilmar Prim Gunnar Gunnar Gunnar Gun- Gun nar Nilson 1 and Juno Fager Acceptance of alleged excessive expenses for their aj at the College of Osteopathy indoor track meet here last February was the basis for the time suspensions Their reinstatement a statement by the registration com committee said was de tie tie- upon after an explanatIon by Dr Francois DEliscu vice dent of the Middle Atlantic assocIation association tion and director of the Osteopathy meet In the original report of ot Dr DEliscu said the Middle lIddle Atlantic committees committee's statement it was stated that the Finns received what the committee felt was excessive expenses The suspension that followed fol foI lowed brought a statement from the registration committee of the metropolitan metropolitan metropolitan met met- district showing that the amount reported by the runners on their return from Philadelphia was less less' than one half the amount re- re reported reported ported by Dr Eliscu On top of this Hugo Quist manager manager manager man man- ager of ot the Finnish-American Finnish athletes athletes athletes ath ath- letes made an affidavit showing that the amount re received by him as manager was 19 more than the runners reported receiving and less tess than one half th the amount reported by Dr DEliscu as having been paid out DEliscu stated that the amount named by Quist was correct but that in addition he personally had paid hotel bills and other expenses in connection with the time visit of the athletes In reporting f to the local registration committee he had i lumped the sum paid for tor entertainment entertainment entertainment entertain entertain- ment to that handed to the athletes through their manager and this was what caused the discrepancies when the three reports were compared The entertainment tendered the tho athletes was not demanded by them or their manager but was voluntarily voluntarily volun volun- tendered by Dr DEliscu who failed properly to designate it when he made his report to the commit commit- tee |
