Show SUMMER PROGRAM TO START JUNE 7 i Salt Lake County summer recreational re-creational program will begin Monday, June 7 and continue up to and including August 14, according ac-cording to Joe L. Christensen, superintendent of Salt Lake county recreation department. Some of the activities that may be enjoyed by the boys and girls of Salt Lake county are: dancing, crafts, community singing, quiet games, circle games, softball, baseball, swimming and life saving, sav-ing, dramatics, tennis, horseshoes and a number of other activities. Registration day will be held June 7 and it is suggested that the -children go to their nearest school where the programs will be conducted. Trained leaders will supervise the activities and tell the youngsters of the activities activi-ties that will be offered. Baseball leagues are to be organized or-ganized for the boys in the following fol-lowing different age groups: Giants 12 years of age and under; un-der; Midgets 12 to 15 years; Juniors 15 to 17 years, and Seniors 17 to 21. In addition to these there will also be a league for boys who have not reached 15 years of age by September, 1948. This league will be known as the Minor league. Another league lea-gue for boys who have not yet reached their 17th birthday by September 15, 1948 will be known as the Major league. These two leagues will be jointly sponsored by the County Recreation department depart-ment and the Salt Lake Telegram. Tele-gram. The two winning teams from these two leagues will play against two winning teams from Salt Lake City at Derks park the first of September to determine the City - County Recreation championship teams. Boys in any of these leagues may participate on American Legion teams and on recreation league teams if they with. |
