ED lN IN- EAST LEARN OF UTAH'S More than than 1 1000 pr prominent min nt state educators educators state cUy and county coun count ty school superintendents from all parts of the United States States States- in the recent convention at Detroit Detroit Detroit De De- De- De troit learned that Utah is away up in inthe inthe inthe the front rank as far far- faras as progressive education is concerned and that this state Js forging even farther ahead with good constructive betterment measures They learned this through through being being told by Dr E. E G G. Gowans state superintendent dent of public Instruction Dr r. r Gowans Is ever a strong booster for Utah schools and though he was not on the program of the meeting he found oc occasion occasion oc- oc casion to speak out a few words for his home state He admitted this today upon his return from the meeting Dr Gowans Gowa s made it plain to the East Eastern rn educators that the West Vest no longer decides on a school system or Innovation merely because the East has done it He lie told them the West had practically declared its Independence and that out here school people do things because they are first Investigated investigated gated and found good He explained the methods by which rural schools in Utah are being brought to a high standard and laid special emphasis on the betterment of school buildings He learned that no other r state in the union is improving its buildings by so thorough a plan as is Utah
