| Show w 7 r Brilliant I T bie iii J L t ra jT Club Breakfast Bre eo I Bonds Sonde Retired and nd Presented to the flub Club by Different Sections T Toasts oas s and Speeches Absent sent at Most Unique Event Vent in jn History o of Club T The e annu annual l breakfast of the Ladies Ladles Literary club was held today at noon in the tiie ballroom m in the mezzanine floor of ot the Hotel Utah Tl The e fun function Uon marked the thirty ninth anniversary literary organization of this prominent each being being be be- tion the entertainment year ing kept onan elaborate scale In keeping with the modern ideas the toasts and responses of former years were done away with and andin in in instead instead stead of ot the members doing the entertaining entertaining en en- they were entertained by bya a group of ot the most beautiful and pr pretentious pre tenUous tableaux that have ever been presented in the city From every standpoint of ot staging posing and general general general gen gen- eral effect the artistry of the pictures was of the highest order These living living living liv liv- ing pictures were preS presented by the eight different sections s of ot the club representing the thought of ot the work carried on by each The home economic section presented present present- ed cd a three panel three panel picture of ot the daily affairs of ot the home The first panel was a housewife Mrs Fred Sands turning a pie nie the second a housewife e Mrs A. A B. B Pierson in a marketing scene cene while the the third represented a mother Mrs Sam Neel in the home with a small child about to drop some money in a bank giving the idea of thrift and economy in the home The Th history section gave a library I scene of a rich interior where a woman woman woman wom wom- an sat reading In the distance could I Ibe be seen a drummer boy conveying an impression of the history of our cour coun coun- try A most effective and beautiful Ide idea I was given by the dramatic section consisting of three figures the central one representing Drama Mrs R. R S. S Allison Amson writing on the scrolls of fate I guided by the he hand of Love Little Virginia Al lson on while on one side side- stood grim Tragedy Miss Jessie Max I and on the other happy laughing Comedy Comedy Com Com- edy Miss 1 Pearl Savage and still in inthe inthe inthe j the background of ot this main group grono stood loyal simple Truth Mrs 1 E. E M. M Garnett holding the mirror up to Nature represented by Miss Edith I Probably the most unique picture was the screen given by the current events branch The screen consisted I of three sections representing the Saturday Saturday Sat Sat- I Evening Post with a marine amarine boy standing in the foreground The Literary Digest beside which stood a small mall Mexican boy and the Worlds World's Work Vork with a soldier leaning near aiming aim ing a gun at the Mexican l while overlooking overlooking over over- looking the whole from the background background back back- ground round stood Uncle Sam The entire effect was indicative of border pro pro- The boys taking part in the theta ta tableaux were Mat Mat- po boy bor Eirl Ful Soldier 00 boy boj- Mo Morn Mo Mexican oboy her Fiher S Sara Siro m. m Hoyt Hot bible Sibley E eon on Be Beautiful indeed was My Last Duchess the Browning poem represented represented represented by Miss Bess Baldwin and the artistic reading by Mrs C. C E. E Richards Rich Rich- ards which the Browning section presented presented pre pre- and in doing so added another jewel to the crown of the famous poet And next came art and proud did that t section do itself with the charming charming charm charm- ing marble study Miss Tripp as the Messenger of Peace holding a lovely white dove dore which she was about to set free tree A storm of applause greeted the picture pic pic- picture ture prepared by the music branch of the club The scene was a most exquisite ex ex- one made up of Mrs Walter Valt r Tuttle seated at a beautiful golden harp while fluttering about on the floor on the tIle back of her chair a arid and d leaning close to her were a half dozen cunning little dressed as cherubs During the early part of the breakfast breakfast break break- fast Mrs 1 George Frances president president dent of tile of-tile the Ladies' Ladies Literary club made madea a a. short address of or welcome which was followed by the presentation of b bonds to the club which had h d been retired by bythe bythe byth th the respective sections Mrs E. E D. D Stubbins club treasurer presented two front from the treasury and one which was ivas the personal gift gilt to the club from Woodruff Mrs Russell Mrs Ira D D. Travis also gave four tour one one from the current events section of which she is chairman and three in behalf of the board of directors composed composed com com- posed of Mrs W. W F. F Adams Mrs 1 T 1 I C. C Hanchett Mrs Ira D. D Travis Mrs Frederick Oswald Mrs Arthur H. H Parsons Mrs John F. F Cowan The art and tourist section combined gave one presented by Mrs S. S F F F. Fen Fen- ton Mrs 1 EO EIO Leo Lee represented the hospitality committee e with two bonds and Mrs B. B F. F Forb Forbes s gave on one on behalf behalf be be- half halt of the history section making ten In all a showing of ot which the club may surely be Justly proud The small tables tables' seating from sixto sixto six sixto to eight from which the breakfast was served were beautifully decorated in crystal and silver epergne holding yellow Jonquils The hotel orchestra furt furnisher furnished sIH d a a most attractive program both for the tableaux and reception I which occurred immediately preceding the breakfast The greatest credit and appreciation is due to the members of ot I the entertainment committee and those who acted in the tableaux for forone forone forone I one of ot the most successful affairs ever given by this literary organization which has maintained so great a standard standard stan dard for entertaining The committee in charge included Mrs Irs A A.
