7 FIRE IN TOE THE NEW NW BAYER V fACTORY i DISTRICT Property Loss and For Forty Persons Made Homeless NEW HA HAVEN VE 1 Conn April S. S Fire S.-Firo Firo early today swept away the Killiam block a loft bu building in tho the downtown factory sect section of this city Tho The stocks of four firms firm which were i tenants were destroyed and anti three tenement tene ment meat houses adjoining were burned The Tho only watchman employed in tho the building was a bulldog which had bM done dono faithful service in this capacity for several se years He discovered tho the blaze and gave fave the alarm by a series of barks which attracted the attention of pass pass- crsby Before the firemen could got get et into action there was w a terrific explosion apparently of gasoline or other oils which drove the fire throughout the entire building The fire was under control an hour after it started with a loss which fire o officials estimate at about Forty persons wore were left homeless by bythe bythe bytho the tho destruction of of three tenement bou houses cs but there was no loss OS of life The blaze was a spectacular one bein being being be be- in ing plainly visible for a distance of nearly ten miles
