B McGee l Her lier husband was wasa a California pioneer and later he performed some soine miracles in mining and smelting in Nevada He built the Richmond furnaces at Eureka he made a ao 1 o fortune in Tybo lost it in an Oregon mine in that terrible 1893 returned to Nevada and str struggled to rec recuperate in vain at last got a lease of a gold mine in Ol Oregon egon close to the California line had just got vit it paying when a fatal illness seized him liim and he died h there four or five fh-e years agor agol ago r l' l Yr y He was wa's was 85 years of age and was prominent on ti l the the coast for nearly h half lf a century He served d several several several sev sev- eral terms in the California Legislature from Pl Plumas ml county and we believe was a member of the first Constitutional ConI Constitutional Con- Con I 11 convention of that State He was for man many years a cl close friend close se friend of the late R. R C C. C Chambers Since his death his wife has been drooping she met 1 with a terrible stage accident which disabled her for months she had been ill for a long time with mind t jangled out of tune She was here in a hospital Mast last y year ar for several weeks and repeatedly remarked 4 that she wished she was at rest beside her husband r The news of her death is news of a gre great t release for she had become a burden to herself She and her 5 li had many friends all over the West Their t l lives o of late ye years rs had vastly m more re sorrows than joys It is a reli relief f to know that they are at rest t |
