H Eggers who was released last Friday from the State prison The convicts had planned to make the break for liberty four months ago but fearing that the warden had learned of the scheme they abandoned the plan temporarily They made arrangements to carry out the plot last S Sunday d but Eggers w was ar arrested arrested ar- ar et ew sn af rested and could not t furnish the e gun to the convicts and give them other supplies 1 necessary e to gain freedom r neI It was the tI plan t to catch Warden Whitney Whit ney In the barber chair at the penitentiary penitentiary penitentiary and at the point of a gun compel him to hand over all the guns and all the money in the safe All the details of the plot were not known to Warden Whitney yesterday but the convicts evidently had laid their plans well and might have succeeded succeeded suc suc- in getting away Immediately after Eggers' Eggers arrest he in was riah the taken sweat to box the P police where station he detailed and fg put the plan to the officers When Eggers was released from the penitentiary the warden was a little suspicious and asked the po police police po- po lice to watch him and by them he was discovered coming out of a Chinese joint where he had purchased some dope which he intended to leave near the penitentiary for some of the five who were considered trusties and allowed to wor work outside the walls |
