Show TO STATUTES HELl TO Sf SKATE A iE HEALTH BOARD CONi f P D IP IN BILL I Sweeping amendments to the state laws relating to the appointment and duties ot of the state board ot of health are contained In house bill Introduced introduced Intro Intro- by Representative Baxter ot of Utah county by request today It reduces the personnel of the board from flom seven to five members three ot of whom by the provisions of the bill shall be physicians In good standing and graduates of regularly chartered and legally constituted colleges In addition to the three physicians there then shall be one representative business businessman man and one sanitary engineer The board will also comprise the state board ot of vital ital statistics The old quarrel between schools ot of healing Is up for conciliation in a clause In the bill which provides that no two members shall shaH be practitioners ers or believers In the tho same school ot of healing The much mooted authority of the board to arbitrarily Imposing regulations regulations regula- regula is given attention in the bill one little word being Inserted In theold the old law The little word is reasonable reasonable reason able It is applied as follows It the board shall have general supervision supervision super super- vision of all matters pertaining to quarantine Shall have coordinate powers powers pow pow- ers as a board ot of health with every local board and shall have authority I to make such reasonable rules and andI regulations not contrary to law as I may be necessary for tor the preservation ot of public health I The secretary ot of the board receives I special attention in the final paragraph paragraph para para- graph or of the bill It is stated that the secretary shall be a licensed physician In good standing of temperate habits and good moral character that he shall give his entire time to the duties ot of his office and shall receive an annual annual an- an nual salary of which Is a proposed proposed pro pro- posed increase from th the present salary ot of 2500 annually |
