Has 450 Branches. About forty rhautauqua assemblies in the United' States are -affiliated with the parent body, located at Chautauqua. Chautau-qua. Lake park. New York, but there are many other gatherings called ehauteuquaa, held under various auspices, aus-pices, which have no eoaneetioa whatever what-ever with the first organization bearing bear-ing that nam. I fact, the word "rhautauqua" ha com to mean any sort of a gathering held out of doors in which instruction of any kind is 5iven by means of lecture. There are ewtsh ehsutauquaa. Catholic chautau- ?uaa and Sunday school ehautauqua. n some towns the Sunday school chau-tauqua chau-tauqua is little mor than od old fashioned fash-ioned Sunday school picnic of several days' duration. At other the program pro-gram are so broad ia their scop as to give to the chautanqua the question ahl name of 'ftunriav school 'vauda- villa. Longfellow Olajs Graduating. - Moat of these circle have members who are taking th horn reading courses. There will be several thousand thou-sand graduates from the horn study classes of the C. I.. B. C. this year. Many of these, will be unable to attend at-tend any assembly for publie recognition, recog-nition, but their diplomas will be mailed to them with th requisite num. ber of seal attacked showing the work accomplished. A large number of these graduate ar people who have heretofore been deprived of educational edu-cational advantages, and the pleasure and profit they hav derived from this systematic course of home study is incalculable. There ia no small anrount of fraternal frater-nal spirit ia each of these classes, for with th help of th ehautauqua institution insti-tution a thorough class organization, is established. Each member is kept in touch with the work of the others by paying only a trifling sum for class expenses. Every elasa is represented in room ia on of th buildings at th Chautauqua institution at Chautauqua Chautau-qua Lake, N. Th ehautauqua institution new provides fourteen schools of iestrne-iios, iestrne-iios, including English, modern Ian-guages, Ian-guages, classic language, music, art, mathematics, physical culture aad classical art. The thirty-eighth annual asaemblv of th ehautauqua institution will be held st Chautauqua Lak park from June SO to August 28. The word "institution" "in-stitution" is given to the parent organization or-ganization to distinguish it from th varioua assemblies held in different parts of the countrv. Most of these are held during th time of the institution insti-tution assembly, but ar of shorter duration, generally extending any where from three dsvs to two weeks, according; to the Mthosissm aad support sup-port received.
