Porter, Por-ter, former second counselor to Bishop Carlson of Poplar tirove ward, have been takea from their father by the juvenile court and placed ia charge of private familiea. The action was taken after au investigation, in-vestigation, by officers of the juvenile court, which convinced them that neither Forter nor the housekeeper whom he had employed, Sarah Kinken-beerd, Kinken-beerd, were proper persons to. take care of the children. About four weeks ago Mrs. Ads Belle Muth, a neighbor of the Porter family, became so ineensed at the alleged treatment by the housekeeper of the Porter children that she took occasion to administer corporal punishment to the Kinkenbeard womaa. For this she wss arrested on the charge of assault and battery and arraigned before Justice Jus-tice of the Peace F. M. Bishop. Mrs. Muth entered a plea of guilty, and hold the court why ahe had made the assault. .- Sentence in the case was suspended pending an investigation br the officers of the juvenile court, and later the case against Mrs. Muth was dismissed by Justice Bishop. Chief Probation Officer Brown of the juvenile court said this afternoon that the Porter children had been takea from their father after an Investigation Investiga-tion held br the officers of ths court, and that they had been plseed in privets pri-vets fsmilies. While making no deanite statement, Mr. Brown intimated that the actioa of the officers oft the court was taken aa a result of the eonduet of the father and the housekeeper. It was stated this afternoon that Pnrter haft been relieved from his dutiee as counselor to Bishop Carlson, aad that be had moved from the Poplar Grove ward. |
