Jackling. who is inspecting; tha Bar and C'hino properties in Arizona and New Mexico, Mex-ico, will leave tha latter mine early neit week for Now York. While nothing noth-ing definite as to tha nature of his trip haa been relaaaad at this and of tha line, it is presumed that hia mission mis-sion will be to confer with hia associates asso-ciates relative to tha so called copper merger. Tba much -heralded merger of the Amalgamated end porphyry properties appears to bava taken definite form. A lata report from tha east is to the effect that there have boon daily conferences con-ferences held on thia matter between representative of tha Amalgamated and the porphyry intereata. and that the matter is being mora seriously considered consid-ered now that the big Standard Oil decision de-cision is out of tha way. Now that ths recent decision haa dona away with tbi interpretation in-terpretation of tha law, tha details of tha deal ara being; worked out apparently appar-ently as fast aa conditions will permit This atep in tha development of copper cop-per interests in thia country ia (aid to bo in the nature of forming a closer union of intereeta between tha Amalgamated Amal-gamated and porphyry crowds. That there is ao intention of forming a mammoth mam-moth holding company with band reds of millions of dollars, to take over the I varioua companies now operating, is the view taken by soma of the large copper interests. Those who ara partially par-tially in touch with the situation claim that tho companies will continue . to keep their identity, but that there will be aa ironclad agreement entered into which will absolutely eontrol the production pro-duction and the marketing of metal.. 8o far aa knowa, this deal is to ba eoa-Cned eoa-Cned to tha Amalgamated Utah Copper, Cop-per, Nevada and Ray Consolidated, Chioo, aad tha Guggenheim interests in Alaska. Tha other large copper interests inter-ests in Arlsona aad the lakea ara said to be willing to abide by a permanent perma-nent agreement as to production, and this eliminates the necessity of having them to go into tha merger aa planned. It seems to have resolved lteelf into a eettling up of matters betwssn the Amalgamated and Guggenheim inter 9ts in the smelting business. Tha report re-port is to the effect that there will not be any more competition in the smelting smelt-ing held, which will be a matter ot deep regret to a number otj the producers pro-ducers ia thia section, whick have had Lhe advantage of a better treatment chs'-ce r more than a veer. |
