Tha next year tha labor parade waa held on tha first Monday In September and In 1884 when tha Knights of iaosr war again In session a resolution waa offered by Oeorge R. Lloyd, a delegate to tha assembly - that in tha future anneal parade ahould b held of tha labor rrailsatlon on the first Monday In September and that day be known as Labor , day. Tha resolution waa ananW moualy adopted. Then followed agitation en th subject and appeals were mad to legislatures to enact law declaring declar-ing Labor day a legal holiday and In 188 tha Colorado led th way and Ha legislature on Marsh II. enacted en-acted a taw creating Labor nay ana declaring it a legal holiday. Then came New Jersey.
