Show :::.73l7B6flST-.: The complaints against Heber J. Orant and eighteen other alleged offen-. offen-. ders were dismissed- in the City court this morning. The motions to dismiss were made by Assistant County Attorney-Hague, acting' under instructions from his chief, WiUard Hanson. Inabil-' Inabil-' lty to locate Orant so that the warrant against him could be served was given as the reason for the dismissal of .that case. The Grant case is well known. He was charged with unlawful cohabitation, in having two wives. A number of years " ago Grant was president of a Mormon mission in Japan. After , his return to this city be made an address to the students stu-dents of the University of Utah in which he announced a gift of 200 to that institution. "I am giving $100 for each" of my wives. I regret I have no more wives so that I might make a larger gift," Grant .' is alleged to have said " I Following that address Charles M. Owen applied for a warrant for Grant's arrest.' The warrant was issned but the alleged offender left on a mission to Europe before it could be served. He was gone two years. Upon his return to this country Owen secured another warrant war-rant but the authorities assert that they have been unable to find him. Most of the other cases dismissed this morning had hung fire a long time. The dismissals were for various reasons. In some cases it was found impossible to locate the defendants' and in others the prosecuting witnesses are missing. The defendants in these eases and the charges against them follow: W. A. Fisher, burglary. Fred Ellis, attempted robbery. Harvey Nobele, practicing barber trade without a license. Harry Collins, grand larceny. M. Levy and L. Miller, receiving stolen property, . C. H. Williams, embezzlement. 8. II. Hamilton, obtaining money under un-der false pretenses. M. 8. Matthews, malicious mischief. Walter Conroy, petty larceny. Sol Myers, embezzlement.
