Probably the most Important measure which passed the House of Bepresenta-tires Bepresenta-tires yesterday waa the bia for the ralslsi of taxes for 1907 and 1908. It provides that 1300,000 shall be raised each year, for State purposes and for the raising of this an ad valorem tax of 5 mills, or as mnch as Is necessary, shall be assessed by the Board of Equalization. Equal-ization. . . , , Three' . mills shall be allowed for school purpose. The County Commissioners Commis-sioners are authorised to collect as high as 5 mills, for county purposes, 4 mills for city school purposes and 1 mill for the pauper fund. The House passed H. B. No. 81, relating re-lating to the seizure of personal property prop-erty for taxes. v Thompson's bill to prevent minors from drinking or securing liquor or frequenting places where it is sold, was passed. ; H. B. 115, providing that the flag shall be raised on schoolhouses on all legal holidays was passed. Bobinson's bill, H. B. No. 127, which makes it unlawful to use the emblem, insignia, ceremonies and the like of secret se-cret orders, was also passed by the House. A bill was also passed providing for the placing of witnesses under bond at the request of the County Attorney. H. B. No. 108 by Randall, which provides pro-vides for the City Engineer's office to become a place of records for lands of the eitr. was referred to the Judiciary committee. K , , II. B.
