Beginning at the footwall the trench haa been run f"r a distance of twenty feet without finding find-ing the hanging wall, and .very foot of this distance Is In ore; samples of which were taken a distance of six feet across the ledge, and revealed the extraordinary values of $200 a ton, with the silver values predominating. ' ' Capt Case, the general manager of thla company, who represents the McDonald-Parkhurst McDonald-Parkhurst Interests In that camp. Is taking tak-ing samples from every part of this new ledge that has been tapped, with a view to giving the entire matter the severest sampling In order that the true values may be ascertained. The same great ledge was tapped at a depth of 125 feet In a crosscut from the tunnel level, which is being run on the south side of the ridge, and which now is in a distance of 120 feet. The object of thla drive is to tap the mammoth gold vein which parallels paral-lels the mammoth silver ledge on the apex of the hill. In order to cut this formation, it will be necessary to continue the drive about 125 feet further. ' . Another tunnel Is being run from the' west side of the hill and a shaft is being be-ing went down on the gold vein at a favorable fa-vorable point. In order to hurry this work along a considerable force of miners is already employed and - the management contemplates placing mora men to work as fast as they apply. A lease has been let by this company on a part of its territory, which is designated des-ignated as Brown Palace No. 8, and these leasers have ample capital to carry out the terms of the contract, which will unquestionably un-questionably place them in the big gold-producing gold-producing ledge. From present indications indica-tions the Brown Palace is one of the most wonderful mining properties 'in Nevada, and no one will be surprised if the later developments prove the value of the ground to run up into the millions. """iNCOBPOBATES FOB $150,000. Articles of incorporation for the Nevada-Phoenix Mining; company were filed in the County Clerk's office this morning. Jacobson of the Columbus Consolidated and other properties prop-erties at Alta, is down from that camp. He says the spring thaws have made the road impassable. O. J. Salisbury has returned to the city, after a prolonged trip through the mining camps of Nevada and Arizona. He says there was no special significance In his journey. Superintendent James Earls of the Ohio-Kentucky properties at Pioche, is in from that camp, and will take a well earned rest at his home in this city. Manager W. J. Craig and John T. Hodson have returned to the company offices in this city after a trip to the properties of the Federal-Ely group out from Ely. Manager M. F. Sammom of the Salt Lake-Ely mining properties, has returned from an Inspection of that ground, and reports having blocked out a Dig tonnage of shipping ores. The trading during this morning's session ses-sion of the mining exchange was considerably consid-erably Improved over that of the close of - last week. Prices in almost every instance in-stance showed a better condition and the tone of the market was of a very encour-. encour-. aging nature. Although the trading In Nevada Hills was by no means heavy the only reason for it not being so was because there were no selling orders on the floor at the first call of the stock; $4.40 was bid for lots up to 6000 shares. May Day exhibited considerable strength, 6500 shares going at 251c to 28c. Star Consolidated. Ingot, Mountain Lake and New York recorded several sales at unchanged rates, while Uncle Sam Consolidated Con-solidated advanced from 56c to 68c. Victor Consolidated sold 1000 at 9c with Cyclone passing in a like amount at 21c. Yankee Consolidated contributed a few at 44c and 45c. The open board trading was equally as active and steady as that of the regular call, there being several noticeable sellers coming to the front. Columbus Consolidated Consoli-dated recorded the heaviest sale of the . call, 1100 shares changing hands at $5.20, . May Day, Little Chief, Lower Mammoth . and Star Consolidated continued steady at regular call rates, while Silver King advanced ad-vanced to $22.60. South Columbus Consolidated Con-solidated was strong at $1.10, with Uncle Sam Consolidated moving up to the 60-rent 60-rent mark. Zehrlng of the City Rocks properties at Alta Is very much pleased over recent developments In this ground, which has been systematl-. systematl-. rally worked In the last year. In an upraise up-raise from the Crald drift in this property prop-erty two feet of ledge matter have been exposed which- carries a streak of galena ore and fine copper, which looks as though It would be a very profitable product pro-duct for the company. Lpon further exploration ex-ploration it Is the opinion of the management manage-ment there will be exposed a larger body of this high-grade stuff that will afford the company ample means with which to further develop the territory. R S Smith; formerly with the Continental Conti-nental mines, has been placed In charge of future developments of the City Rocks properties, and he will bend evSsry effort to push the work to an early conclusion. SUCCESS MINE FLOUBISHINO. Manager D. C. McDonald of the Success Suc-cess mines, ha recently made, an Inspection Inspec-tion trip to those properties in the Duck Creek district. He reports that the main working shaft has been retlmbered and that sinking to a greater depth is to be rushed. It Is the intention of the management man-agement to continue this drive to a considerable con-siderable depth, before the territory will be crosscut to the ledges that are known to exist. There Is a large tonnage of shipping ore on the dumps at present, and additional ore bins and platforms are being constructed. con-structed. The roads are in too bad a con-dUlon con-dUlon to permit the transportation of ores to the railroad loading station, but as soon as the weather has cleared, a heavy tonnage of product will be sent to the market regularly. ' McDonald has pinned his faith in the properties of the Duck Creek district, and in company with H. O, Hall has undertaken under-taken the task of developing the Ely-Homestake Ely-Homestake ground, which is located on Bird creek. This group is on the great mineral ledge In the Duck Creek district, and ore that carries 80 per cent lead has been developed In several places. A small force of men has been sent out to clean up the ground, and a little later a larger force will be employed. JIM BUTLEE BOOMING. More ore bodies have been added recently re-cently to the vast domains of the Jim Butler properties at Tonopah. and from a new expose of ore on the company's Stone Cabin, 2000 sacks have been delivered at the mine preparatory to sending the product pro-duct to the market. The find has been steadily developed for at least two weeks, and the strike has widened out into four feet of high grade silver-lead product that gives average values of $300 a ton. The Impression prevails that this new disclosure Is a spur of the Valley View vein, and that the richest part of the chute is now being developed. At the mine the management refuses to give out any Information whatever, but from some of the workmen it has leaked out that there has been a steady Improvement In values for some time. In addition to this it develops de-velops that shipping ore Is being taken from the Wonder Boy domains of the company's properties. A.11 of these new developments have had a tendency to make the stock hike for the higher points on the stock market. With the assurance that ore from several places in the mine will be forthcoming forth-coming shortly, and this of a shipping quality, without any sorting, fortunate shareholders have every reason to feel Jubilant over the situation. MUCH SNOW AT AUBA. A warning has been sent out to prospectors pros-pectors who have had an Idea that It would be an easy matter to go into the Aura, Nev., mining camp at this time of the year. One of the mine owners who has wintered in that section writes that the snow Is from three to seven feet In depth and that every part of the district Is covered with snow, making it impossible impos-sible to accurately make locations at this time of the year, and entirely out of the question to do any developmnt work. Further, the writer says that the trip Is quit an undertaking, and thatthose coming com-ing In at this time must be prepared to endure hardships, as there are not ample food or shelter to care for more than the Inhabitants of that camp who have been located there during the entire season. The mineral section is described as a meritorious one. but it Is said that there Is ample territory unlocated. and that there will be a considerable area yet to be taken up. This would seem to Indicate Indi-cate that it would be foolish for any one to endanger his life by making a run for that region until the snow had melted and the roads made passable. METAL MARKET. Sliver Is being settled for today in the open market at 651 cents per ounce, copper cop-per castings 231 cents, and cathodes at 241 cents per pound, while lead is commanding command-ing $S per 100 pounds. OBE SHIPMENTS. The Pioneer sampler Is in receipt of nine cars of ore from Utah and two cars from Nevada. Taylor-Brunten have released re-leased two cars of ore from Idaho, thirty-three thirty-three cars from Utah, two cars from Nevada, Ne-vada, one car from California and one car from Colorado. MINE VISITOBS BETUBN. The special train carrying the mining min-ing men from this city returned from the two days' jaunt to Beaver county at 7:30 o'clock this morning. Evcrv one of the visitors seems to. be well pleased with the trip to the mining properties. Aside from the great interest inter-est that was shown in the revelations being made in the underground workings work-ings of the Newhouse properties, the freatest attraction seemed to be in the tar district. In that section, the all-absorbing all-absorbing topic seemed to be with regard re-gard to the Talisman and Cedar properties, prop-erties, which are now taking out valuable valu-able consignments from immense ledges of high-grade ore bodies and making regular shipments to the local smelting plants down the valley. Everyone was enthused over the wonderful amount of work that has been done in the Beaver diggings, and the prospects are that no one district in the State will receive more attention from the, mining men aid the capitalists than Beaver county. Sufficient ore already al-ready is blocked out in these properties proper-ties to insure regular consignments of high-grade silver, lead and copper ores to the local market for a long time, and the prospects for even more sensational sensa-tional developments are bright. Superintendent Super-intendent Moffatt of the Cactus mines and other mine managers came to the city with the party. COPLEY GOING TO BOSEBUD. Edward Copley, who was one of the men to get In on the ground floor of some of the biggest properties in the Rosebud district, including the White Alps group, is preparing to leave for that district the latter part of this week. Recently the development de-velopment In some of. these properties haa become so sensational that Copley feels thst he Is In duty bound to get In and do some development work on his own account, ac-count, as he has a number of claims that have not been so much as even scratched. Word has Just been received from Rosebud to the effect that on the apex of |
