Show SEND A PRINCE TO HARVARD TO DODGE CUPID BERLIN, April 12. Because Prinfe August Wilhelm, the Kaiser's fourth son, has fallen desperately in love with his cousin, the Princess Alexandra, and wants to be marrie"d right away, he is to be sent to far-away America to attend Harvard university and grow up like the President's son, Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. It was at first reported that it was Prince Oscar, the Kais-er's fifth son, who was to be sent to Harvard, but it has now developed that Prince August Wilhelm will be sent instead, and that his love affair, whirh he Kaiser and his family did not at first approve, is the cause of his banishment. Prince August has been in love for some time. Recently he confessed his feelings to his father and admitted that his cousin, the Princess Alexandra, was the object of his affection. He was determined to wed her, and at an early date. The Kaiser laughed at the bov's declaration, dec-laration, told him he was'too young to think of marriage just yet, and ordered him to go back to his books. The Prince was disappointed, but obeved the parental command without an outbreak, out-break, until he learned a certain eligible eli-gible German Grand Duke was about to propose to his sweetheart, and that such an alliance would probably prove pleasing to 'his family. Then, leaving Bonn without permission permis-sion he prosecuted hi courtship and finally effected a match. The understanding under-standing is that the marriage will be postponed until 1909. Prince August will go to Harvard early in 1908. The Prince is 20 years old. |
