Show SALT WATER BATHING DELIGHTS HUNDREDS QUE. A. DELEGATES Lay Aside the Convention Cares to Enjoy Novel Swim. Hundreds of educator, who an attending at-tending the N. E. A. convention laid aside the ears of the aasembly, forgot the aerioua lectures they had heard from the platform, and hied themelvee to Saltair Beach yesterday afternoon to enjoy the novelty of a dip in the Great Salt lake. The majority of the risitors taw the retort and the lake for the arst time yesterday. Some disregarded the counsels coun-sels of the experienced aad did not hesitate, hesi-tate, the first time, to duck their heads under the water. They did not repeat the performance and la several cases the experimenter, were earned from the water to reviTe. The delegates had the time of their lives in the water, and many of them lingered until the chill of evening made them uncomfortable. Many were heard to express toe intention of returning to fie beach today. W. J. Porter, from Delegate, La, did not follow the prescribed form in getting his bathroom assignment. He just wandered down the pier and strolled into a bathroom aad when he had donned his bathing suit, locked the door and strolled out to the water. He had no check, aad when he came back, shivering slightly aad wishing for the shower, he could not find his room. The 1500 bathrooms all looked alike, and he hunted for an hour. The longer he looked the more confused he became. A careful seareh wae made of the women's bathrooms, after all other chances had been explored, and after fifty or more or these had been cautiously opened, Porter's clothing was found. The officers of the association held a reception late in the afternoon, on the dancing floor, and light refreshments refresh-ments were served by a group of Salt Lake, Ogden and Provo girls. Those who stood in the receiving line included President and Mrs. Edward T. Fair-child, Fair-child, secretary and Mrs. D. W. Springer, Spring-er, Grace M. Shepard, treasurer; James M. Greenwood. J. Stanley Brown, Robert Ro-bert J. Aley and James Y. Joiner, members mem-bers of the board of trustees; Gov. William Wil-liam Spry and Mrs. Spry, State Superintendent Super-intendent and Mrs. A. C. Nelson, City Superintendent and Mrs. D. H. Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Child and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Cummings. " "Our Western Wonderlands" was the subject of an illustrated lecture gives by Arthur H. Chamberlain in the ippodrome last night. It was well attended. at-tended. Arrangements will be made for a repetition of the lecture later in the week Former Gov. Edward W. Horn of Kansas was to have delivered an address ad-dress at the beach yesterday afternoon, but missed his crowd, and the crowd missed him. His address will be delivered deliv-ered at the tabernacle session tonight. |
