Show YANKEE RESUMES SHIPMENT Of ITS SILVER-LEAD ORES The Yankee mine, which baa been absent ab-sent from the shipping lilt for the past two weeks owing to tha fact that the wagon road connecting tha property with tha railroad baa been in almost impassable im-passable condition, will be in line with a couple of cars of sine ore tomorrow. Superintendent Merriman states thai when tha teams commenced taking oat the ore a few days ago thera ware ia tha neighborhood of WO tone in readiness readi-ness for shipment, according to Eureka Reporter. There is still a very aiea showing of sine in the Yankee and, while the ors is not worth near so much money aa it was soma months ago, it ia still bringing tha company a Tory niea revenue, la fact, in this property tha sine can be handled at a profit aa long as tha pries does not go below $6. One thing that ia particularly gratifying grati-fying in connection with the Yankee is the fact that soma lead-silver ore is again making its appearance. The best bunch of this ore is now exposed near the old No. 5 slope, which is about nine ty feet above the tunnel level, and while the deposit is not large enough to get excited about just at this time, there ia a good opportunity for it to make into something big. About fifty tons of this ore has already been mined. In the newer workings of the Yankee the usual amount of development work ia still under way and it seema almost a cinch that the ore will he found at depth that is if indications count for anything; at all. This week a smald cave was encountered encoun-tered on the 1700 Level and, while it is not mineralized to any extent, it eannot be considered in any other light except as a good indication of ore. The cave was about thirty feet Ions; by ten feet wide. Perhaps the beat showing that the Yankee people have had since they sunk their new shaft is that in the east drift on the 2000. In thla drift thev have been getting values for some little time and it really looks as though they were in line for the ore. Scran ton Sinking. over at the Scran tun mine In the north Tlntlc district the new equipment has been In successful operation for tbe past two weeks, and according to Superintendent Superintend-ent Nebeker. tbe systematic prospecting of the property Is now under way. About the most Important work In this connection connec-tion Is the sinking of the main working shaft, which is now down something like thirty-five feet below the Delmonte level, or about 600 feet from the surface. Mr. Nebeker says that as the sinking progresses pro-gresses drifts will be driven out Into ths mineralisation snd that the Scranton ground wit) be pretty thoroughly developed devel-oped during the next few months. On the upper levels of the mine, from which a nice tonnage of ore has been coming for several years, some work is also being done. While the Scranton la not shipping any ore Just at this time some nice sine Is being piled up in the ore bins and In the near future the mine should become a very heavy producer. The management anticipates a much better bet-ter sine market Just ss soon as ths tariff schedule shall have been fixed. While the Scranton has been In successful suc-cessful operation for many ysars, the mine hss been handicapped by not having machinery with which to carry on deep mining. For that reason the property has never attained the prominence which Its splendid ore deposits merit Knight's New Mill. Word from Silver City indicates that no time la being lost in excavating for the new mill, which is to be erected by the Knight Interests. Vet Whiting, who has the contract for putting the sits In readiness for machinery. Is rushing the work snd promises to have it completed by the time the machinery Is delivered In Tlntlc. A. M. Chrlstensen. who designed the mill and worked out the process which will bs used tn the treatment of the ora, was In Tlntlc sgaln this week. He states that the crushers, pulleys, belting, and In fact much of the material needed in building the new milt can be secured from the old sulphide mill at the Tlntlc smelter. smel-ter. A bunch of machinists Is now at work getting this material ready for removal re-moval to the site of tire new mill. NEV ADAS IN BAN FRANCISCO.
