Show JACKLING SEES A BRIGHT OUTLOOK fi COPPER METAL Since the big decreaae In tha copper surplus during March the Industry has been looking up Sales have been made at or about II cants a pound and the visible supply Is not large enough to rinse any recessions In this price so long aa general business conditions continue con-tinue to show favorable signs. The demand de-mand for the red metal has been wonderful won-derful since the price was reduced helow 17 cents, but consumers are said to have only bought the stock required for Immediate Imme-diate use D. C. Jackllng Is ona of the largest western copper operators who Is taking a favorable view of the situation. Concerning Con-cerning copper he says: "I regard the outlook for copper as very bright, but I have so considered 11 for the laat two yeare. Disregarding the month to month fluctuations. It now eeenaf to me that we are close to prsaent production capacity of the existing mines, and If there la to ba any conelderable gain In output during the next few yeare I fall to see whence It Is coming. "Tha so called porphyry' copper mines now produce, roughly, between 25 and o per cent of the copper mined In this country. coun-try. It Is Interesting to consider where I copper might mow be selling If tha awe-1 pliyrlee had not been discovered. it takes two or three years to develop and bring a copper mine to the production stage, and sven if there were now a number num-ber of new and big minee being opened they would not be shipping until, say. about 114. During that time the normal nor-mal Increase In demand that Is to say, the average lncreaae per year for the last decade would be sufficient to take care of the Increased supply." Copper exports for March, aa per reviled re-viled figures of the New York metal exchange, ex-change, amounted to 42,428 tons.
