Barnett of Copperton announce the engage-- ! jnent of their daughter, Miss Rae Barnett, to Robert G. Poulsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest G. Poulsen of Copperton. The wed-ding date has been set for March 18 and will be solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Harry Manos,- - son of Mr. and Mrs. George Manos, left Thurs-day, . February 10 to visit with his sister and brother in law in Oakland, Calif., and his aunt and cousins in Los Angeles before go-ing to San Francisco where he sails for Alaska the end of the month. Pinochle club met Tuesday night as guests of Mrs. Frank Zaccaria. Mrs. Shlrl Scroggin was an invited guest. Prizes were won by Mrs. R. G. Steele and Kay Braun. Tasty refreshments were served to nine. Mrs. Dale Johnston entertain-ed last Friday evening for mem-bers of her bridge club. Mrs. Boyd J. Nerdin was an invited guest. Prizes were won by Mrs. S. W. Jacques and Mrs. Tom Car-riga- n. Others present were Mrs. R. C. Rauer, Mrs. Carl A. Curtis, Mrs. Harold Chesler, Mrs. Albert Kustelic and Mrs. J. Lynn Booth. Lovely refreshments were served. Mrs. Charles Clays left last Friday to spend a week in Salt Lake City with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Clays. DarLeen Hutchings celebrated her tenth birthday with a lovely party at the home of per parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hutchings Sunday afternoon. A box lunch was served after which an ama-teur show was held. Guests in-cluded Patsy Nielsen, Sandra Nelson, Kay Lou Cook, Ann Ma-rie Sybrowsky, Mary Jane Rey-nolds, Barbara Kay Nelson, Jo-An- n Spera, Joan Johnson, Linda Ballamis, Karma, Judy and Bet-ty Smith, Rosemary Arritola, Connie Chestnut, Sharon Porter, Toni Lynn, Virga Dee and Char-Lee- n Hutchings. Many lovely gifts were received by the hon-ored guest Kindergarten classes at High-land Boy Community House held their Valentine party Monday morning under the supervision of Miss Mildred May. Valentines were exchanged and games were played after which light Valen-tine refreshments were served. As the children went home, Mrs. Domingo Garamcndi gave each child a Valentine all day sucker. Story hour group which inclu-des first, second and third grades held their Valentine party Mon-day afternoon at the Community House under the direction of Miss Grace Weaver. The program in-cluded stories, songs and games followed by refreshments. The Home Guard group under the direction of Miss May gave a Valentine party for the cub scouts Monday. Patsy Yengich was in charge of the worship service. Questers and Queen Esthers held their regular meeting in the apartments of the Community House Tuesday night. Miss May was in charge of the worship ser-vice and lesson which was fol-lowed by a game of Valentine hearts. Later in the evening home made cherry pie was served to the group by Mrs. Linna Duhlgg. Sixteen cub scouts, boy scouts and fathers from Highland Boy attended the Fathers' and Sons' banquet and court of honor at Copperton Wednesday night. Entre.Nous club met Wednes-day evening as guests of Mrs. Axel Sybrowsky. Mrs. Peter Pad-ge- n was an invited guest. Bridge was played and prizes won by Mrs. Hyman Smernoff, Mrs. Mil-es Gaythwaite, Mrs. W. C. Carter and Mrs. William Ablett. An ordinance creating the of-fice of Superintendent of Water-works and Sewers, and the office of Superintendent of Streets, fix-ing the compensation and defin-ing the duties of said offices. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Bingham Canyon, Utah: Section 1. The office of Super-intendent of Waterworks and Sewers and the office of Super-intendent of Streets are hereby created. These offices shall be filled by appointment by the City Council and the appointees shall serve during the pleasure of the City Council. Section 2. The Superintendent of Waterworks and Sewers shall receive as full compensation for his services the sum of $285.00 per month, payable monthly or semi-month- ly as may be deter-mined by the City Council. Section 3. The Superintendent of Waterworks and Sewers shall have full charge of the Water-works and sewers under the jur-isdiction of the City of Bingham Canyon and shall make all im-provements and repairs neces-sary to the same subject to the approval of the City Council. It shall also be the duty of said of-ficer to operate and maintain the furnace in the City Hall, includ-ing the firing and other work in connection with the operation of the said furnaca. Section 4. The Superintendent of Streets shall receive as full compensation for his services the sum of $275.00 per month, pay-able monthly or semi-monthl- y as may be determined by the City Council. Section 5. The Superintendent of Streets shall have full charge of the streets under the jurisdic-tion of the City of Bingham Can-yon, and shall make all improve-ments and repairs necessary to the same subject to the approval of the City Council. Section 6. The office of Super-intendent of Streets, Waterworks and Sewers is hereby abolished Wednesday for members of her club. A light luncheon was serv-ed after which bridge was play-ed. Mrs. Florence Abplanalp and Mrs. Dora Whitmore played high. Others present were Mrs. Aloha Kendall and Mrs. Maude Giles. Kenton Reed of Salt Lake City spent the week end with his mo-ther, Mrs. Carrie Reed. Mrs. Carrie Reed is visiting this week with her daughter. Mrs. Dorothy Rushton of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Nielsen and daughters were Salt Lake visitors Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walker and daughter Marsha were din-ner guests Sunday of his mother, Mrs. Belle Walker of Herriman. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Seal were Mr. and Mrs. Max Seal and son Craig, Beverly Seal and Mildred Holmes, all of Midvale. First prize was won by Mrs. Edna Medley, second by Mrs. Elva Baum and house prize by Mrs. Betty Kiral. Mrs. Leola Peterson was an invited guest. Others present were Mrs. Olive Allinson, Mrs. Virginia McCarty, Mrs. Delta Turner of Lehi and Mrs. Cecily Jackson. Joan Nielsen of Bingham was Thursday overnight guest of Joy Seal. Wednesday overnight guest of Sandra Alexander was Jackie Barnett of Copperton. The 509 club met at the home of Mrs. Bessie Bigler Wednesday. A delicious dinner was served after which five hundred was played. First and traveling prize was won by Mrs. Betty Oliver and cut prize by Mrs. Viva Sweat. Others present were Mrs. Jennie Ball, Mrs. Bernadine Linck, Mrs. Norma Halliday, Mrs. Rita Ros-trum, Mrs. Ilia Coombs and Mrs. Millie Wykert.
