Show MAP PLAN FOR WELFARE II0I.1E Construction of a Joint state-county state-county eodal welfare building on Salt Lake county-owned property fronting on State street In the 1900 block Friday had advanced to the point where architects were making mak-ing a study of floor plana and cost estimates. Action en the proposed project followed a meeting attended by county commissioners, represent' Uvea of the county and state welfare wel-fare departments and W P A. aaid County Commissioner Roecoe Bo-den. Bo-den. The architect firm of Scott A Welch has been engaged to prepare pre-pare estimates. Earlier estimates have ranged from 1100.000 to 3O0,- 000. The building. If completed, also may be occupied aa a headquarters headquar-ters for W P A administrators, It was said. At present various agencies administering ad-ministering social welfare and W P A are occupying rented quarters quar-ters Involving an outlay of many thousand dollars annually. It was pointed out. A public-owned building build-ing to serve the. same purpose could ultimately be amortized and paid for from rental expense, some ot the conferees said. Besides Commissioners Boden, J. B. Mullins and J. R. Rawlins, the meeting was . attended by Sharon L. Hatch and A. C. Burton, repre- seniing county ana Slate weuare boards, respectively; Darrel J. Greenwell and H. C. Jensen, representing rep-resenting the W P A administration, administra-tion, and Carl W. Scott, representing repre-senting the architects. |
