But, within the next two weeks, sti , ,.u commission officials expert ex-pert that the dream of an up-to-date U. S. 40 from Salt Lake City to the Colorado Una will become a reality. Crews are now busy oiling a stretch of road soms eight miles long between Heber City and Frultland that will bring the highway Up to a "dustless standard" stand-ard" for ita entire length across the state. The oiling Job will cost approximately approx-imately 820,000, but this is only the final part of a project that will have cost approximately $288,-500 $288,-500 to bring the so-called -Deep Creek" portion of the road Into the first-class road category. Winding Wind-ing turns have been taken out and widening operations have been necessary. When the oiling operations are completed, the entire distance from Salt Lake City through the Uintah basin will be up to "dustless road" specifications, Ezra C Knowlton, chief engineer of the road commission, commis-sion, announced Wednesday. |
