Granqulst and Naomi Shore, admiring silver fox fur production Utah's Silver Fox Fur Crop To Bring Breeders $600,000 Utah silver fox furs are now being draped around the necks of women around the world, and the 1937 crop will bring breeders about $600,000, said W. A. Cranquist of Des Moines, receiving station manager and appraiser for the American National Fox and Fur Breeders' association, who was in Salt Lake City recently supervis- ing shipments. The fox fur shipping season is on and 10,000 untanned furs will be shipped from this state to New York City, where they will be auctioned auc-tioned to the highest bidders. The furs are never tanned here because buyera want to do that job, each thinking he has the best process, the fur expert said. The Utah pelts will bring from $30 to nearly $900 apiece. Each year the business increases. The furs are pooled by Utah producers, pro-ducers, who, like others, feed the market gradually so the price is not slashed.
