Paul, Sam, Thora and Dean Francis, Santa Ana, Calif. Brother, Sister Quartet Eyes Scholastic and Athletic Marks PROVO The name of Francis is going to be outstanding at Brigham Young university for the next four years. There are four of them from one family registered as freshmen this year, according to the registrar. The three boys and their sister are from Santa Ana, Cal. They are Thora, 23; Dean, 21; Sam, 19, and Paul, 18. The quartet made a record for one family at the Justin Union high school, all three boys having served as student body presidents, and Thora also leading the students as cheer leader. Basketball is the main interest of Dean. Sam and Paul, all of them being on the high school team which captured the southern California basketball championship In 1935. . and Sam and Paul repeating their success in 1937, while brother Dean was away on an L. D. S. mission to England. The three are members of the California Ramblers squad which won the freshman intramural tournament at the B. Y. U. from nine other squads. Sister Thora also lvnterested In sports, especially hockey and basketball. bas-ketball. She also wields a wicked knife at her hobby of woodcarving. An L. D. S. mission In the northwestern north-western states has occupied her time in the last two years. |
