Show FARM LAND TAX ASSESSING ROW -WOH-BHTATE Valuations Must Be ' Hiked to Conform With Statute The state tsx commission, with the Uw on its aide, Tuesday cams out victor in a controversy with tha Utah county commission over equalising equal-ising farm land assessed valuations. E. Booth Sorenson, Utah county auditor, said he would comply with a tax commission order, received .Tuesday morning, to increase the valuations 30 per cent. "There is nothing to do except comply," Mr. Sorenson said. "County officials have done all they can to prevent the increase, knowing it will work a tremendous hardship on farm land owners." The order was given to equalise Utah county farm land assessments with those in other counties and to protect the Nebo and Alpine school districts. Under law, a school district cannot can-not share in the state school equalisation equali-sation fund unless assessments within It have been equalised with those of other districts. The blanket boost in farm 'land assessments is expected to raise valuations about $1,000,000. The tax commission also has ordered or-dered reassessment of some M00 individual in-dividual assessments on improvements, improve-ments, found to be from IS to 20 per cent too low. The reassessment notices have not yet been sent out |
